cTechnology Wins Economic Development Grant

Tennessee Economic Development

In cooperation and grant assistance from the Southwest and Northwest Development Districts, the Memphis Area Association of Governments, and the West TN Industrial Association, our proposal for a coordinated, regional effort in west Tennessee to drive broadband adoption and a K-16 Technology Workforce Pipeline was awarded $225,000 in the Tennessee Economic & Community Development's Rural Technology Assistance Grant (RTAG) in the Existing Projects category.

We are very excited about this because it will allow us to continue laying the foundations for our regional Co-Working model for 21st Century online job creation in rural communities. A large portion of this grant will be used as matching funds to file a larger grant with the ARRA BTOP Broadband Adoption program grant. That grant, if won, will vastly accelerate the process of making our online economy Co-Working model a reality quickly.

We believe this concept has the potential to make rural Tennessee communities a virtual factory for a new, technology-based economy and a transformed workforce readiness environment. See our vision paper on this below.

Many thanks to this program's legislative sponsors, Rep. Craig Fitzhugh and Rep. Johnny Shaw for initiating the funding for the RTAG program, and to TN ECD for their active role in promoting the technology economy in Tennessee.

Together we can do it!
